Cold Garden Snap .Feb 10, 2011

In  the cold depths of winter in december I was forced to attempt a little creativity.  Just what can someone achieve with an inability to the leave the house and a snow-covered garden?

Well...this shot would be one answer.

Given the limits at the time I think its ok.

Something a Little Different...Feb 12, 2011

This was taken on Boxing Day, the original image is hardly groundbreaking....but a little photoshopping and the result is (I think) very nice.

Making it a little blurred gives the image quite a surreal look, and it's quite striking.  The colour hasn't been changed much, the image was originally quite monotone.

Another shot from that cold Boxing Day .

Hmmm...not a lot more to say.

Climbing a Welsh Mountain.(Jan 24, 2011)

This shot was taken half way up Moelwyn Bach in Snowdonia.  I quite like it, a bit of Photoshop tweaking has been carried out (mainly a bit of brightening up the foreground).

It seems to me that Photoshop editing is at least as subjective or even more so than what constitutes a good image in the first place.

So too much?  Too little?  Rubbish picture to start with?

This was taken in late 2010 in the woodlands above Betws-y-Coed.  That little place is well worth visiting.  This image has been photoshopped a little, mainly to make things a little brighter.  If I have overdone it then comments will be gratefully received.

Tiptonian Canal.(Originally published Jan 16, 2011)

This shot was taken very early and very cold on a december morning.  The Canon was at its limit (or I was), but the high ISO gave a grainy look...which is not entirely ugly.

The canal runs through Tipton in Dudley (of the UK),  if anyone is interested.

Cold December Morning. (Originally posted Jan 11, 2011)

For reasons not worth mentioning I was up very early on one of those icy cold mornings and had the opportunity to give the old 400d a workout.

Sadly it (or perhaps me) managed to get a lot of very noisy images at the high (for it) ISO it was working at.

But I shall share them nonetheless.

Introduction.

Over on Wordpress I have my beloved blog...Maybricks Canon Shots.

Linky.

This Blogger blog is almost entirely for my own benefit and no one else.

You can only store so many images on the wordpress.com platform, and I am approaching 20%.

Why not cycle out the old crap that no one looks at anymore, maybe fresh eyes will find it here (probably not) but at least I get to free up some space (I refuse to pay for increased capacity).

So...a vanity project for a vanity project?

looks like it.
